Mastheads.

In regards to the composition of a music magazine, or any magazine in general there is always a masthead situated towards the top of the front page, normally positioned more to the right than the left.

The Masthead is usually a means of communicating with the potential consumer.

Here are some examples of the mast heads I have found on the Internet.

All of these mastheads are in bold colours, and are made prominent through their background colour e.g. black on white.

Often the Title of the magazine is outlined or shadowed. In the majority of cases the mast head contains the issue number, website and selling line.

When creating my own I will have to take into consideration all the codes and conventions that are used in professional music magazines. Mine will need to be noticeable, readable, in a clear font and made prominent on the page. In my own I will be including an issue number and website within it.
